Carolina “Fishers of Men” Inshore Trail Tournament Rules

  1. Entry fees for each tournament shall be $40 per person. Championship - $60 per person - Big Fish - $10 Per Boat                                                                                             
  2. Children 15 years of age and younger may fish free with the supervision of their parent or legal guardian. When outboard is running, the child must have on his/her life preserver. This is State Law!
  3. There is no limit on the number of participants per boat as long as they have paid their entry fees. Coast Guard capacities will apply.
  4. Each team is expected to follow high standards of sportsmanship, safety, courtesy, and conservation. *The use, possession or consumption of any illegal drugs or alcohol, and the excessive use of profanity during CFMIT events will not be tolerated and will be cause for disqualification from current and future CFMIT events.
  5. All state, federal, and local laws apply.
  6. No one will be allowed to leave the designated launch site by any other means than by boat.
  7. It is mandatory at blast off for everyone to wear their life preservers. It is recommended that participants wear their life jackets while their primary engine is in operation.
  8. Registration and weigh-in times shall be designated by the Tournament Director.
  9. If a participant is late for weigh-in they are disqualified.
    • In extenuating circumstances flexibility may be given at the sole discretion of the Executive Committee.
    • In the event of a mechanical problem, the participant must contact a member of the Executive Committee before registration or weigh-in deadlines for a possible time extension.
    • It is the competitor’s responsibility to get fish to scales in a timely manner in order to get weighed.
    • The boat you start the tournament on is the boat you must finish the tournament on.
  10. Only designated fish will be weighed at each tournament: flounder, rockfish, speckled trout and puppy drum.
    • The fish in competition will be announced in advance of each tournament.
    • Each tournament participant may keep their legal limit of fish but each boat may only weigh the following in each category:
      1. (two)  rock – 18 to 22” TL – none in slot – 2 over 27” TL
      2. (four)  trout – 14” TL 
      3. (four)  flounder – 15” TL
      4. Big Fish in each category - paid
    • Category limits may vary due to state or federal regulation changes.
  11. Fish must be caught on artificial bait or Gulp. Natural bait may not be used. Natural bait includes shrimp, mullet, menhaden, crabs, cut-bait, eels, and mud minnows.
  12. The Weigh Master will be responsible for the decision upon the legality of each fish weighed-in. The decision of the Weigh Master is final.
  13. In the event of a tie, the decision will favor the first participant to weigh-in.
  14. Inclement Weather Policy: Tournaments are subject to be rescheduled or relocated by the executive committee or tournament directors due to poor weather conditions.
  15. All CAPTAINS and COMPETITORS from each team must attend the Captain's meeting.
  16. If any rules infractions occur, you will be disqualified from the tournament that day.
  17. There will be a 5 minute courtesy measure before scales open
  18. All inshore, NO ocean or inlet or target ship – off limits
  19. You have to fish 4 out of 5 tournaments to be eligible for the end of the year awards
